Flourish @ Ninewells Garden 2026 Programme – participant information

Aims – To give people a good overview of gardening skills. Opportunity to try new nature-based craft and exercise activities. Build confidence to engage with community garden projects across the city. Learn, relax and meet new people.

Ninewells Community Garden 2026 Flourish programme – Flourish is for people who are in recovery from issues such as addiction, mental health illness or homelessness.  It is a programme of gardening, cooking, art and nature with a health and wellbeing focus.

How to get involved – You can refer/register interested people with us at Ninewells Community Garden (see contact details below).  We will then contact them directly and provide further information about the sessions and the Flourish programme.

Grow and Learn – As part of the programme, we offer learning opportunities including the RCHS  Grow & Learn Awards. This person-centred award, recognises individual progress and achievement in horticulture. The awards are inclusive, individualised and offer life skills-based education.

Dates and times – 10 – 3pm on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month from March to December starting March 11th.  Mornings will be spent doing gardening tasks, break for lunch and nature inspired art and creative sessions in the afternoon.

12-1 lunch                 – Eat
1-3 afternoon            – Relax
We are open to people coming just morning or just afternoon.

Cost – The programme is free to attend. Lunch will be provided and travel costs covered (including taxi fare if required). We can provide appropriate clothing for participants.

Participation – People can choose to come to all the sessions or drop-in throughout the year. The training and learning opportunities are opt-in on an individual basis.

How to find us – The first time visiting the garden you might struggle to find us but it will be worth it . The garden is located on the south side of Ninewells Hospital at the edge of the Arboretum. Gardening and creative workshops – Throughout the programme we will spend time doing garden tasks including, cultivation, preparing beds, composting, sewing seeds, harvesting, working in the polytunnel and much much more. Each session includes an artist lead nature inspired workshop in the afternoon. The workshops are varied and seasonal. Details of the workshops will be published here monthly.
