We are often asked about the fabulous art in and around the garden, here is a small history of what we have and why.
Penguin Statue
In 2018 there was a Penguin Trail around Dundee with the decorated penguins auctioned off to raise money for the Maggie’s Charity. One of the Penguins was bought by DC Thompson, who donated the penguin to Maggie’s. As there was no space at Maggie’s it came to be displayed at the garden in 2019.

Owl and squirrel
we took delivery of our new owl in June 2021, made by Tom Harris-Ward, it was a replacement for a wooden owl which stood guard outside the garden for many years (so many we couldn’t trace it’s origin)

Flower bed
Katherine Fay Allen donated the planted up hospital bed in 2020, after using it as part of her degree show and in an exhibition at the RSA, more details in our blog, here.

Four seasons

“The Four Seasons” stained glass artwork inspired by Vivian Blok was unveiled at
the Garden on 25 March 2023 with Vivian’s two sons Rowan and Linden, around 20
members of the Tayberry Nordic walking group, and Karen from Maggie’s in
attendance. It was lovely to hear more about Vivian’s career achievements, and
general interests so much inspired by all things nature.
