Plants in our wellness clinic and pharmacology beds are part of our physic garden and include the following plants:

Hypericum perforatum (St John’s Wort)

Feverfew (Tanacefum parthenium) is a flowering plant in the daisy family. This medicinal plant is traditionally used for the treatment of fevers, migraine headaches, rheumatoid arthritis, stomach aches, toothaches, and insect bites.

Lavender (Lavendula angustifolia) is a flowering plant in the mint family, Lamiaceae. It has been commonly used for treating anxiety, stress, insomnia, and depression.

Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis) is an herb that can be taken to improve the appetite, ease pain and discomfort from indigestion (including gas and bloating).

Valerian (Valeriana officinalis) is a flowering plant where the root of the plant can improve sleep quality, reduce anxiety, improve symptoms of OCD, 

Yarrow (Achillea millifolium) is a flowering plant that has properties for treating fever, common cold, hay fever, dysentery, diarrhea, loss of appetite and gastrointestinal (GI).

Borage (Borago officinalis) is an herb that has been used to treat skin disorders including eczema, red, itchy rash on the scalp and a type of skin condition called neurodermatitis.

Chamomile (Matricaria recutita) is a flowering herb that has a history of being used as a remedy for treating fevers, headaches, kidney, liver and bladder problems, digestive upset, muscle spasms, skin irritations, gout, ulcers, rheumatic pain, and inflammation.

St John’s Wort (Hypericum perforatum) is a flowering plant that is used to conditions including kidney and lung ailments, insomnia, and depression, and to aid wound healing.

Wood Betony (Stachys betonica) is an herb used to improve circulation and harmonizes the functions of the digestive system. In combination with its calming effects, it is excellent for digestive distress caused by nervous tension, anxiety, and depression.
