From the 11th until the 15th of November 2021 the garden will be decorated in Poppies of various mediums, and colours to remember all who have served, some of whom made the ultimate sacrifice and others who lived to remember….
On the 11th itself we plan to have a minutes silence at 1100 and the opportunity to add your own Poppy so please feel free to come and join us or, if you prefer, the garden will remain decorated until the 15th for individual remembrance.
The event is a collaboration between the garden and the Green Health Partnership Craft and Mosaic groups and we hope you can come and see it and perhaps spend a moment to remember someone of your own family’s history.
As part of the event I have been finding out about some people who served with links to medical community of Dundee, for example, James McCormac Caldwell Johnston and Jessie Ritchie who both served in WW1 and whose stories are told on Great War Dundee website, James in Roll of Honour and Jessie in Hidden Histories. There are others whose stories I have found at the garden.
I would also love to hear of any stories you may have so please come along and take time to remember.
